The S.E.A. Program has a nautical training package to suit the needs of visiting school groups. Group organizers can decide beforehand the level of instruction and emphasis that the group would like to attain during their visit. We currently offer informal skills training for those groups that have joined us for a more marine biology oriented S.E.A. Program. "Boat Pro", a Canadian Power and Sail Squadron certification, is offered to provide the basic needs for the new upcoming mandatory Marine Operators Certificate as set out by the Canadian Coast Guard. Sail and Powerboat courses that develop a higher level of proficiency are also offered for pre and post learning, as well as onboard training opportunities.

The protected Gulf Islands area provides an excellent marine environment to learn basic sail handling, navigation and seamanship. In the spring and fall marine parks and secure anchorage's are freed from the press of summer tourists. Having the choice of overnight destinations allows us the advantage of being more easily influenced by the wind as it moves us under sail.

Duen, Passing Cloud, and A Fine Madness will travel together as training is underway in the morning. Groups onboard each boat will learn the safety procedures and particular sail handling techniques . It is quite a feeling to be traveling together in the flotilla. The ability for students to work as a team creating motion and movement to these solidly designed sailing vessels is an unforgettable experience for even the most seasoned mariners. Students look across the water at their friends under sail and understand that their combined effort and enthusiasm help to create this life time opportunity at S.E.A .

Please call us for a more detailed description of sail training options available to your group. Learning is fun at S.E.A!
